Day 3: Mick Fleetwood at Costco

So, interesting day. I woke up a little earlier with a splitting headache (effing cold...) to the sound of my sister yelling across the house to my mother, "Can I wake her up yet?". You can imagine how fun that was. Anyway, Stacey (our neighbour down the way) brought her puppy Cocoa over and I played with her for a bit while my mum and sister went for a walk--that dog was so damn cute! She's really, really scared of people because she was abused before Stacey got her, but I got her to play around a little, anyway.

After my sister took the dog home, we all piled into the van and took off to Kahalui for the day to do a little more Christmas shopping. AND LYNDSAY, YOU MIDGET, IF YOU'RE READING THIS TURN BACK NOW. PRESENTS UNDER THE CUT.

So, to get to the point of this entry:

We were at Costco after shopping (yes, I fell asleep in the car, and yes, I DID have a seatbelt mark on my face, in case anyone was wondering) when we passed by this group of people crowded around taking pictures--turned out it was Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac advertising his new wine. SO COOL. We stood in line and got his autograph, and a box with two bottles of his wine in it. MADE MY LIFE, GUYS. MADE MY LIFE.

And that's all. Decorated the tree, watched the end of the X-Files movie with my sister while my nana and pop went out to dinner with my  mum. I have such an exciting life.

Day 2: Hm, Ron Howard

Woke up with my throat feeling like something akin to raw beef. Isn't that lovely? Hanyway, I opted out on the beach (I know WTF is wrong with me) and took a shower--if you don't shower every single day here, you get all gross and other unpleasent-like things. Everyone got home, and I hung out with them in the living room for a little while before falling asleep. According to my neurologist, if I ever feel tired, I need to just lie down.

Yeah, did that for two hours :s. Bu-ut my mum and sister ditched me to go shopping, so I went to the Wailea mall with my Pop. Now, there is something very interesting about this mall--firstly, it's all open-air, and secondly, one must dress very well to walk in the place. Well, the top floor, anyway. It's a well-known celebrity hot-spot for shopping (what with stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Coach, St. John, Tiffany's...you get the idea), so if you're not dressed in something with some sort of expensive label on it, do not expect anyone to help you, let alone look at you. Anyway, I was just getting off the escalator with my Pop when, right next to me, I spot Ron Howard out of the corner of my eye. Ron Howard. Director of The DaVinci Code, Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind, and, very soon, Angels & Demons (of which I just found out OMFG *SQUEE*). Well, needless to say, that made my day.

Right now I'm about to go and watch the Zags game in the family room, and hopefully convince my family to watch CSI tonight. Otherwise it's XF time for my sister and I *g*.

CSI-BM BEST. STUNT. EVER.

Well, we got in yesterday at about oh, 1:00 AM. Luckily, though, everything was fine with the luggage, and my nana and pop were there to greet us (in SWEATERS, because apparently anything under 70 degrees is freezing), so all was not lost. I love the feeling of walking off the plane into the open, airy airport and just stopping to smell everything. It's all so familiar and comfortable, like being wrapped in a blanket of acceptance. It now feels like Christmas to me (as odd as that sounds). As stressful as yesterday was, I am greatly relieved to just finally be here. The house still looks the same, feels the same, and at the same time is different in a wonderful way. I've forgotten where the hell everything is (took me a good five minutes to find all the cups) and I always get pleasantly suprised to walk into our room and see the wall mural my pop painted shortly after we left two years ago. Things have changed for the better--now if I could only get all of my laundry done so I actually have clothes to wear...nothing like waking up at 7:20 in the morning and being told to pack for Hawaii a day earlier than expected. No clean clothes definitely does NOT equal love.

Unfortunately, I woke up with my head just buzzing. My mum has had a cold for the past week and has now graciously passed it on to my sister and I--GO TRIAMINIC--so I speak with a hoarse voice and cough in this annoyingly high-pitched way. AND NO, COLD FX DOES NOT EFFING WORK, NO MATTER HOW MUCH MY MOTHER INSISTS IT DOES. So I skipped out on the beach to set up my pop's internet (even though there's perfectly good wireless internet that can be 'stolen' from next door *g*) and am now trying to ignore my mother and sister calling me "whitey". I don't understand how they can lay out in the sun and just be content to fry their skin into submission--can you say 'skin cancer'?--but I guess it's why I'm so different from them. Me, the nerd, and they, the cool kids. Right on.

Anyway, it's about 10:24AM here (that's 1:24 Edmonton time) and I have run out of things to talk about. For now. I shall return with more boring stories like this one.

PPS: Giant flying cockroaches DO NOT=<3 EFF that thing was huge...

Welcome to 3amsaturday, the lovely travelling journal of, well, me (I know, you think I'm a genius, right? So intelligent). Anyway, the point of this journal is to log all of my experiences from the past and present while abroad. And, also, it serves the purpose of unclogging my personal journal, which is a bonus.

Yes, it's full of Mulder and Scully. No, I'm not going to change it. They alone personify the trials and tribulations of travelling (though, I must admit, my accomidations far exceed any they ever experienced). And, you know, no one can have too much of a good thing.

Right. On to the journal!
